BASE IN ZELL-MOSEL AND RIDE, RIDE, RIDE!
Base yourself in a pretty riverside 'home-away-from-home' self-contained apartment in a vibrant historic town in the heart of Europe - with complimentary bikes for guests staying one week or more. We have clunky, touring and light cross-country bikes - as well as panniers, helmets and tools/tubes/pumps you can carry.
Explore the Mosel Valley scenery, vineyards and winemaker cellars, great food, hiking and biking trails. Enjoy convenience to rail - and a multitude of regional sights. Zell is a short train ride SW to Trier or NE to Koblenz on the Rhine. Luxembourg, Koln, Mainz and Frankfurt about 2 hours - and 4 hours to Paris (Paris one way fares from 29 Euro).
The local station is Bullay DB, 6km from Zell by bike/bus/taxi.
Nearby Frankfurt-Hahn Airport is a key Ryanair hub with low cost flights across the continent.
'My Europe Base' is also us - we've owned this lovely Zell-Mosel house since 2009.
MOSEL BIKE PATH
FROM 4 DAYS D.I.Y.
There's no need to pack bags and shift hotels day after day! Stay right near Zell's town centre in your bright self-contained apartment in our pretty river-side house and choose which days and sections you ride, connecting easily by rail, bus and ferries - which means you get to cruise the river as well!
Zell is midway on the famous Mosel Radweg (Bike Path) running 200km from Trier to Koblenz.
This plan suits 4 days of easy riding.
Keep in mind there are many, many winemaker cellars and cafes to delay you!
Day 1: Trier-Bernkastel 60km: combine with rail Zell-Trier and bus or cruise Bernkastel-Zell
Day 2: Bernkastel-Zell 40km: combine with cruise one-way
Day 3: Zell-Cochem 40km: combine with rail, bus or cruise one-way
Day 4: Cochem-Koblenz 60km: combine with rail Zell-Koblenz and rail, bus or cruise Cochem-Zell
We suggest at least a week to have time for other rides and activities, rest days - and flexibility to pick where and when you ride.
"My week in Zell was wonderful. Thank you so much. I rode the riverbanks doing pretty much the 7 days you have suggested. I used the trains and also the ferry."
Barry from Melbourne, Aug 2014
Altogether, Zell is a great place to stay for several weeks or more!

Some buses through Zell and other popular cycling areas have bike trailers.
Day rail/bus passes are inexpensive: For example, 5 people can ride the VRM Network for one day for about 25 Euro - less than 5 Euro per person per day.
