UPCOMING LOOPY RAIL TRAIL WEEKENDS & 8-DAY SCHOOL HOLIDAYS RIDE

The theme for our 2021 series of weekend rides in SE Queensland is to combine stretches of rail trail with back roads to create circuits.

Check out too our rail-trail-combo in the September school holidays for families and 'easy-riders'. It's 300 km over 8 days and we can also accept bookings for sections of 3-days or more.

9-10 October 2021:  

LINVILLE TO CROWS NEST LOOP 160 KM. 

Start 9:00 am out of Linville and ending there Sunday afternoon. The Saturday route is 84km, and takes the BVRT for 37km through Moore, Harlin and the Yimbun Tunnnel to Toogoolawah. Then we strike south-west on the Biarra Road, joining up with the Esk to Crows Nest Road, another 47km, mostly sealed (13km is gravel). There’s a big climb towards the end, up 300m over 5km. 
Overnight Crows Nest camping (or book yourself in a pub or motel). 

On Sunday, Pierces Creek Road goes north for 36km (3km unsealed?), becoming Mt Binga Road. From there to Blackbutt is 21km via Googa, Douglas and Corcoran Roads which are mostly gravel. Rejoining the BVRT at Blackbutt, it’s 23km to Linville. 
E-bikes are welcome. Our bus follows the last rider on the road sections and carries riders’ gear.
Meet at Linville or catch our transfer bus from Caboolture there and back. 
Cost is $60 per rider plus camping or accommodation. Bus return transfers are $70 per rider+bike from outside Maccas in East St, near Caboolture Station (or $90 from Noosa and Sunshine Coast). Maximum 30 places.

24 September to 1 October 2021 (up to 8 days):  

RAIL TRAIL DOUBLE DIP - In the SCHOOL HOLIDAYS we're offering rider support to tackle the SBRT, LINK-TRAIL and BVRT, up to 300 KM over 8 DAYS. 

This easy-paced event caters for families, 'beginner' bike tourers and those who prefer to 'let the others rush'.

Start from Kilkivan with transfers offered from Noosa and Nambour Rail Station. It finishes at Wulkuraka Station on the Ipswich Line.

Overnights are Fri Goomeri, Sat Wondai, Sun Kingaroy, Mon Nanango, Tue Blackbutt, Wed Toogoolawah & Thu Lowood. We'll carry your gear, run a daily rendezvous/refreshment point and pick up tired riders. Camp or book-your-own accoms. Camping gear and bikes we have available for hire.

Cost is $300 per adult rider ($100-200 for kids) plus camping/accommodation. For shorter options please enquire.

23-24 October 2021

SOUTH BURNETT LOOP 110 KM

Break-out to the South Burnett. This is a 110 km loop Wondai to Moffatdale, including 30 km of the South Burnett Rail Trail, South Burnett wineries and the Boat Mountain Road climb. It's nearly all on sealed roads.

Start 12:00 noon out of Wondai and ending there Sunday afternoon. The Saturday route is 40km, and takes the SBRT for 14km sealed to Murgon and a few km beyond on gravel. Then riding the back roads of the Moffatdale Wine Region. Overnight BnB, cabins or camping at Yallakool Park beside the Joh B-P Dam. 

On Sunday, ride back 13km to Murgon for breakfast, then north on the climb up Boat Mountain Road to Tablelands, a little out to the west, followed by a southerly run across the farmlands, reconnecting with the SBRT at Tingoora village. The final stretch is gently downhill back to Wondai. 

E-bikes are welcome. Our bus follows the last rider on the road sections and carries riders’ gear. Meet at Wondai or catch our transfer bus from Noosa/Cooroy/Gympie there and back. 

Cost is $99 per rider plus camping or accom. Bus return transfers are $90 per rider+bike. Maximum 15 places.

6-7 November 2021:  

LINVILLE TO NANANGO LOOP 130 KM

We’re returning to do the Linville to Nanango 130km circuit, this time counter-clockwise. 
Start 10am out of Linville and ending there Sunday afternoon. The Saturday route is 66km, and takes the Mt Stanley Road (sealed 24km), Western Branch Road (gravel 14km), River Road (50% sealed 9km), Bullcamp Road and Mylett Lane (gravel 6km) and again on the Mt Stanley Road into Nanango (mostly gravel 13km). 
Overnight Nanango camping (or book yourself in a pub or motel). 

Sunday is the ‘Link Trail’ route (mostly gravel, some rough, 20km) to reach the BVRT a few km out of Yarraman. Enjoy the BVRT (all gravel) to Blackbutt (15km), Benarkin (5km) and down the range back to Linville (18km).

SOME PAST EVENTS

12-13 Jun 2021: A weekend circuit combining the BVRT and back roads overnighting in the town of Nanango (pub, motel or camping). 130+km with nearly 100km gravel. Over 40km is on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (Linville to Yarraman). 

19-20 Jun 2021: A weekend circuit in the South Burnett, combining the SBRT and back roads overnighting in the little town of Proston (pub or camping). 120+km and mostly tar. About 30km on the South Burnett Rail Trail (Wondai to Murgon and Wooroolin to Wondai).
